Oh Look! We Finally Made A Brony Sketch!

I’ve been trying to think for the last hour the best way to convey my feelings towards a certain meme without offending it’s members. While I find the whole Brony/”My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” community to be fascinating, there’s always a joke to be told and hey, satire is the best form of flattery. So if anyone takes offense to this (none really so far, thanks!), you shouldn’t. It’s a joke. I’ve met alot of Bronies at the conventions we’ve had booths at and they’re…..kinda like Patrick. Still, lovely folks.

Glad to see the warm reception the video is getting already! I was literally up all night editting this, and actually had a version that I was going to upload an hour prior to this one. But I decided to suck it up at 5 a.m. and give it some final touches. Anyone who edits knows how agrravating this is, but when it’s worth it, it’s REALLY worth it.

Anywho,I’m late for class because I’m typing this. Have an excellent Monday!

Perfect Strangers: Shitty 80's Sitcom or MAGIC?

Ok so here’s the deal. Me and Peter were going to shoot a special followup sketch for one of our “series” (but which one??? ooooOOOOooOOoooo), but stuff fell through. But seeing as how we hadn’t put out a sketch in a while, and I happened to come across THIS LITTLE BIT O MAGIC, I figured there was a sketch to be made.

And so we did.

Sky's The Limit

Back in March, I was about to go on a first ever trip to lovely Canada for a week, but I still wanted Chris, Peter and Julien to shoot a sketch whilst I was off being a lazy butt and enjoying socialized medicine. So I gave Chris my camera, gave Peter my Link costume (he wanted it, I had no clue what they were gonna use it for), and said go for it. I didn’t know Julien was even available to film.

Couple of weeks later, Chris showed me the rough cut of this and I nearly lost it. It’s awesome to know that there’s always room for a small WKUK reference in a sketch if it calls for it. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Btw, I’m listening to Jay-Z’s “Hard Knock Life”. I don’t even know what to say.

Let's Take A Big Step Backwards...Into 2010

So since we’re busy editing convention exclusive videos for Sakura-Con 2012 this weekend (I know, two conventions back to back. We must be out of our minds.), I figured I would take this as the perfect time to put up an oldie that we shot back in 2010. This was actually a video that we put up when we were still using Dreamweaver to update the site and our subscriber count was about 30, but a week or two after putting it up, I noticed multiple spelling errors in the video and decided to take it down. But now that I’ve found some time to go back and fix these problems, I figured putting it back up couldn’t hurt.

Emerald City Comic Con was AMAZING. I want to thank all you guys for coming out and hanging out at our booth whilst we made you all pancakes and talked about Dr. Who. I’ll post some pics of the craziness, but yeah, without you guys this would be a boring convention for us to attend. Our new shirt (courtesy of Mr. R.K. Smith) sold very well, and will be up on our store after Sakura-Con this weekend.

So for anyone who didn’t notice the banner photo I snuck on the site the other week,
WE HAVE A BOOTH (1207) AT THIS YEAR’S EMERALD CITY COMIC CON!

Last year was seriously a blast. We met a couple of people who, for some reason, actually recognized us and sold a good amount of merch that we had. If you can come down for the lovely Seattle Convention Center , we’re gonna be there from March 30 to April 1st (we’re gonna be partying into the next month, hell yes).

But if this weekend doesn’t work for you, we also happen to be attending SAKURA-CON 2012 AS WELL THE NEXT WEEKEND (April 6th-8th). None of us have ever attended that convention in any way, shape or form, but it should be a lot of fun rubbing shoulders with Seattle’s finest anime nerds and weeaboos.

I recently saw the new trailer for Mario Party 9 (yes people, they’ve gotten to 9), and I instantly became overwhelmed with the fond memories I had when I started playing Mario Party 3. They had recently put 4 N64’s in my local McDonald’s, and coming from a home that discouraged playing video games that involved thumb usage (tendinitis was a fear for my mom, who also happened to be a nurse who loved reading health articles in cheap magazines). So if I was getting a burger, you could bet your ass I was either going to be playing Mario Party 3, or at least a shitty BMX game. It didn’t matter. Anywho, hope y’all like the new video. It was a blast to film.

While we wish we could have gotten our first video out sooner, a list of things prevented us from reaching our goal. Well actually one thing did; Time Travel. Chris thought it was a great idea to team up with the Doctor without realizing how boring it actually was. No internet access? Really?

Bane's Voice Sucks

In case anyone is unaware of the little problem that the new Batman movie (The Dark Knight Rises) is having at the moment, lemme just throw in my two cents.

I recently saw the AMAZING 6 minute IMAX prologue for Dark Knight Rises that plays before Mission Impossible 4. Let me just sum up the whole experience (spoiler free) and say that the opening sequence I saw was more badass than the intro to the last movie (which is one of my favorite moments in the whole flick). And I knew before going into it that there had been a few complaints about not being able to understand what the main villain was saying, so I tried my best to decipher as much as I could.

It didn’t help.

Maybe it’s the bass of the IMAX speakers that overpowers Tom Hardy’s voice box. Maybe it’s the fact that the Foley sound effects for the scene were louder than Bane’s dialogue. I dunno, I’d have to hear it a few times to make a guess. All I can say is that, while Nolan claims that he won’t be remixing the audio for Bane’s voice, the fact that about 99.9% of EVERYONE who saw the prologue agree that something needs to be done, something will most likely be done. We just won’t hear Christopher Nolan admit that he was wrong (which is probably for the best, since he’s never really made a bad decision in any of his other films). Let’s keep that record squeaky clean.

No, but seriously, this meme needs to stop.

When I was reading the reviews that were flooding in about The Elder V: Skyrim (“Skyrim” for short/cool kids), it seemed like there wasn’t a flaw to be found in it. Graphics were eye-bleedingly amazing. You could kill dragons and inhale their magic innards. The story and quests were chock full of kick ass adventure. No, wait, not even chock-full. “Chock-full” would imply that there would be a finite amount of kick ass adventure to be had. THE GAME RANDOMLY GENERATES QUEST SO THAT YOU CAN POTENTIALLY PLAY FOREVER. JESUS CHRIST THAT’S AWESOME!!! HOW COULD ANYONE FIND A PROBLEM WITH THIS GAME???

Well, now there is one. Congrats internet, you found a way to make me resent a nearly perfect game by making a meme out of an in-game joke that wasn’t even meant to be that funny in the first place. Damn you.

In case you are wondering why this week’s comic looks a little different from the usual comic we put up, that’s because IT IS! In an attempt to have more consistent content on the site, as well as to pimp out a lovely comic that our friend Dillon Ross writes and draws (Space Beard), we will putting up atleast one strip a week. And seeing how frequent we’ve been putting up new videos, it’s starting to look like we could potentially be putting up content every other day of the week.

….Were probably right. While we do love us some video game humor, there are times when we get a little side tracked (or on the right track, depending how you look at it) and write something with absolutely NO POP CULTURE REFERENCES. I know, I’m freaking out too. This short sketch I wrote follows the grueling journey of two young men as they into a new home. It’s truly some moving stuff.

Sony's "Title Fight" PLEASE BE A REAL THING

I really hope this isn’t just a rumor. I always wonder why Nintendo seems to be the only company that can successfully pull off a fighting game using their popular characters (and yes, I know about fighting games like DreamMix TV World Fighters and others). But with the awesome characters that Sony has in their titles, a fighting game sounds perfect.
